Now Offering Laser Sintering (LS)
Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 7:58AM LS Nylon prototypes are produced much like a SLA prototype. Instead of hardening liquid resin as with a SLA, the laser melts a nylon powder to form each successive layer. Each layer is melted to the layer below to create a homogeneous plastic part, producing a very strong, durable part.
Advantages of Laser Sintering:
- Biocompatible material (USP Class VI certified, ISO 10993-1 compliant)
- More durable material than most RP materials – 92% the density of injection molded nylon
- High HDT – 350°F, resists most chemicals
- Mechanical properties stable over time
- Holds water!
